SEMCO Energy has become a Bronze Sponsor of Art on the River for 2013! It is because of great community minded companies, like SEMCO Energy, that events like Art on the River can happen. We would like to send a great big THANK YOU to SEMCO and applaud their support of the Blue Water Area.
Fine artist, Dana Wright, will join Art on the River for her first year. Dana is a photographer but also makes many amazing ceramic tiles. Dana is from Allan Park, Michigan and will be located in Heritage Park. We are very excited to have Dana joining Art on the River this year!
Leo and Bill Deligianis have been long time business owners in Port Huron. We remember them most for all the years of joy we had at their restaurant Diana's Sweet Shop in Downtown Port Huron. The Deligianis Brothers are still doing good works in the area and are helping Art on the River by becoming Patron Sponsors. We are so thankful for individuals, like Leo and Bill, for their kindness and help with Art on the River!
Really exciting news! Glass by Marten will return to Art on the River for the third year! Marten Ullenbruch makes AMAZING stained glass items. Unique gifts that you will not find anywhere else. Marten has such a beautiful display and plenty of items to buy each year. We are very excited that Glass by Marten will be returning for year number three at Art on the River. Make sure you stop by and see everything Marten has to offer in Heritage Park.
Today we would like to thank Blue Water Dowsing and Keith Ziegler for becoming a Patron Sponsor for Art on the River! Without great local support for this event, it could not happen. We are very honored to be able to thank Blue Water Dowsing and Keith Ziegler for their support.
The Nook & Cranny has always been a great supporter of Art on the River, and this year is no different. We are pleased to have The Nook & Cranny back as a sponsor for the third year. They join us this year as a Patron Sponsor.
The Nook and Cranny features Michigan made products and gifts. There are many handmade items in the store and if you are looking for that "hard to shop for person", this is a great store to check out. Located at 217 Huron Avenue, in the historic downtown of Port Huron, it is also in the same building as Acme Locksmith. So, you can shop for a gift and get keys made all at the same time! WIN/WIN!!!

Art on the River will be a good time
Apr 16, 2013 |
Art on the River will return to the banks of the Black River in downtown Port Huron on June 8 and June 9. Citizens for a Vibrant Community will present this art and music festival for the third year.
The party starts June 8 with the morning arrival of the Traveling Michigan Vietnam Veterans Memorial. A 9:30 a.m. memorial ceremony will feature state Sen. Phil Pavlov and Port Huron Mayor Pauline Repp. Several veterans group leaders from throughout the area also will speak. The St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard will perform a memorial gun salute.
Music will be performed at two stages — the Lake Bonisteel Music Association acoustic stage at Heritage Park and the main stage in the West Quay Street parking lot. The stages will feature acoustic, rock, easy listening, big band and blues music among other forms.
National touring band Steepwater will perform at 9 p.m. June 8 on the main stage.
There will be several art and music workshops being held throughout the two-day event. Local art incubator Studio 1219 will hold hands-on art workshops along with many others. Check the Art on the River Facebook page for scheduling closer to the event: www.facebook.com/artontheriver.
Art on the River also features many fine artists and crafters with many types of arts and crafts for people to buy.
Mark your calendars now.
